witchdoctors

Ever since I started making comics I've been meaning to make them like this. From now expect more honesty in my comics/art. Then again every time I say I'll do something I never maintain it. I know for certain that the next comic I make will be along these lines but after that who knows?

I GOTS THE BOOKS!! [Jul. 19th, 2009|01:23 am]

bougieman
The long wait is over! Not only do I have the second CINEMA SEWER book, but I have the second printing of book 1 as well! *does little dance like snoopy*

These new books have a big "VOLUME 1" and "VOLUME 2" on the first page where I normally do the free drawings for you fine folks who order it, so I am going to have to find inventive and original ways to get your drawings on there, but I'm not too upset. So far it has meant I've had to draw smaller and less, so I've really cut down on how long it takes me to do these! ^_^

So yeah, those of you who were smart enough to preorder, I am powering through your books right now, and have already gotten 10 of them done over in the last few days! The rest of you who have been waiting: DON'T WAIT! ORDER NOW SO YOU'LL BE NEXT IN LINE TO GET YOUR FREE PERVY DRAWING!

Each book is $20 plus $9 shipping. ($14 shipping overseas). That is *very* cheap for original art, and hey -- you get the finest work I've done in my career as a fucking bonus! How could that be wrong?! Order now before I'm sold out again!!!!

PAYPAL TO: mindseye100 *AT* hotmail.com (Sorry, I had to type it weird so the spambots wouldn't attack. The *AT* is obviously a "@")

LOCAL PEOPLE:
The launch party happens August 1st at Pulp Fiction books at main and 8th ave. 7pm. I will post a poster in a day or two to advertise it. If you want a nice drawing in your book and not the 1-minute dashed-off ones I do with a beer in my hand at the launch, you'ld best pre-buy NOW for $20 (no shipping cost obviously, since I am going to give it to you in person at the launch) so you can get the labored-over filth in your book. It is first-come first-serve on this offer!

FITS #1 [Jul. 18th, 2009|06:15 pm]

sersugg
I was in a used bookstore today, where I came across a magazine from 1971 entitled FITS, which featured a beautiful cover by Rory Hayes and Simon Deitch. I'd never seen this artwork before and I was tempted to buy it, but they were asking $16 (on sale from the regular price of $25), which is a bit much considering the rest of the mag (except for a drawing by Greg Irons on the last page) is absolute hippy drivel. I happened to have my video camera with me, so I took some "footage" of it. When I got home, I looked up the title here, but it wasn't listed. The only reference to it that I was able to find online (#203 on this list) says it was put out by the FITS Collective in San Francisco. So, should I go back and buy this? I'd love to have the cover framed and hanging on my wall, but of course I wouldn't separate it from the rest of the mag. I dunno....

Something in the Darkness [Jul. 18th, 2009|12:46 pm]

jasonturner
[music |Iron & Wine - Pagan Angel and a Borrowed Car]

This one was a Friday, I think, and I was at work and had a sudden craving for a Coca Cola, and then for some corn chips (codename Greaseballs) to compliment the sugar. Just as I was working my way through that someone brought a cake or cookies or something to my department, so in no time I was so full of sugar that I was higher than a kite. I think I had been reading someone's appreciation of a good sugar high around that time too. So yeah, superhero full of sugar, full of possibility, full of love.

the train to san diego [Jul. 18th, 2009|01:49 pm]

rstevens
Hoo ha! I am an insane person who decided to take the train to the San Diego Comicon this year. (booth 1335 / 1337 by small press, as usual) Amtrak is pretty weird and very charming.

I'm about 1/3 the way across the country right now, sitting in a lounge in Chicago. I set up a Tumblr account to easily document the trip without spamming every other service I'm on.

You should check it out at joebidenfanclub.com

(named after the only man who commuted to the Senate every day for decades via Amtrak)

That photo meme! [Jul. 18th, 2009|10:32 am]

finkenstein
* Post ten of any pictures currently on your hard drive that you think are self-expressive.

* No captions. It must be like we're speaking with images and we have to interpret your visual language just like we have to interpret your words.

* They must ALREADY be on your hard drive - no googling or flickr! They have to have been saved to your folders sometime in the past. They must be something you've saved there because it resonated with you for some reason.

* You do NOT have to answer any questions about any of your pictures if you don't want to. You can make them as mysterious as you like. Or you can explain them away as much as you like.

The rest under the cut! )

Just got back from seeing Harry Potter. True, I've never read the books, but I really guess I missed the point where the series became all about beer and sloppy hot makeouts.

[MaMJ] Feedback [Jul. 17th, 2009|05:45 pm]

[Tags|, ]

With Comic Con looming less than a week away, I'm assembling awesome minis of the webcomics. As such:

Does anyone have any (preferably) kind words to say about Me and My Jane? We need to fill the back cover of the mini I'm putting together for Con.

I know you guys are reading and commenting on the site. So, comment here and maybe have your cover on the book itself!

Much love,
Rachel

PS: The cover on the right obviously isn't quite done yet. But I'm finishing it tonight, so. I'd blog later, but I figured it would be best to give you guys more time to type! <3
